Cancun

This is the very last day we spent in Mexico and we went out with a bang. We drove two hours from Cancun to the Tulum mayan ruins. These ruins are the newest of the Mexico mayan ruins and are beautifully located on the coast of the Yucatan peninsula. The great part about these ruins is you can swim on a private beach at the foot of them!

Last week

This was our first official day after Emily and Shawn had left and we decided to make it a relaxing one! We dropped half the crew off at the beach and Ashley and Mark headed to get a much needed massage in Playa Del Carmen. After our massages we met back up with everyone at a great beach in playa del carmen named Parque Fundadores. We then drove out of playa del carmen in order to get find a nice place to fly the drone. We ended the night back in playa to try a great thai restaurant named playa wok. It was amazing food, and a great find!

Week fives episode

On day 5 of our trip in Cancun Mexico we run some errands while we get ready to say goodbye to Emily and Shawn. In the process we stumbled across an amazing taco shop that our cab driver recommended. Before Emily and Shawn took off, we headed to the beach (Playa Delfines) with them for one last swim before heading to the airport with them to drop them off and grab a rental car. From there we thought the day was all but over, but it wasnt! We were able to find ourselves an amazing little bar, with no tourist, right where the ocean meets the lagoon near the hotel zone. This was the perfect place to take up the DJI phantom 3 drone! This was by far the best drone footage we got the entire trip! It was truly amazing!

Week fours episode:

Day 4 of our Cancun, Mexico trip was absolutely incredible! It was New Years day and we wanted to celebrate 2017 by doing something exciting! We rented a huge van and headed two hours from Cancun to Chichen Itza, one of the largest Mayan ruin sights in Mexico and the world. Chichen Itza has one of the largest temples, el castillo, which is the Temple of Kukulcan. El Castillo at Chichen Itza is most likely the Mayan ruin you think of when you think of Mayan ruins. In addition to visiting Chichen Itza, we were able to put up the DJI 3 phantom drone in the area and got a pretty good shot of el castillo from the sky.

After visiting the mayan ruin, we head to a famous cenote named Ik Kil. Cenotes are scattered all over the Yucatan peninsula and are basically fresh water hole that people often swim in. Ik kil was a little crowded, but we had alot of fun jumping off the edge into the giant hole!

Week three episode:

The third day of our trip to Cancun brought us into the ocean and over to Isla Mujeres. We wstumbled across a really good deal when at the ferry for round trip transportation, all day snorkeling around Isla Mujeres, and lunch for only $35 a person. This was a fantastic deal being that purchasing ferry tickets alone would cost about $15 a person round trip.

Once we got over to isla mujeres we snorkeled off the coast and saw thousands of beautiful fish swimming in the reef. After snorkeling by the reef, we headed onto the island were we explored the local shops, then stumbled into a local bar to enjoy some delicious margaritas. After stumbling around the island, we jumped back on the boat and headed out to swim at the under water museum, which is a collection of about 500 sculptures created by Jason deCaires Taylor and placed just off the coast. From here, we headed back to the island were our captain cooked us a delicious fish. After eating, we headed back to cancun where we got cleaned up and headed out to a fancy dinner to celebrate the beginning of 2017 (the new year).

Week two episode:

This weeks episode is day 2 of our Cancun trip. We started off the day hoping for an improvement from the first day where everything seemed to go wrong. We headed out to explore the hotel zone during the day, finding a really nice beach to relax on. Another member of the crew was set to meet up with everyone half way through the day. There were some logistical problems with this members arrival that really made for a high stress adventure! BTW we do not hate Mexico, chill out!

Week ones episode:

We started off our trip to Cancun with a non-stop flight from Austin, Texas. Its funny how it takes less time to fly from Austin to Cancun than it takes to fly to most places in the USA. In Cancun we met up with friends and family to bring in the new year (2016 to 2017). The trip lasted about 7 days with people coming and going as the trip moved along. The start of the trip was a bit bumpy. We had some major issues getting transportation. The car rental we had reserved months prior fell apart, and ubers are technically illegal in Cancun. After a bit of a learning curve, we were able to get back on track with our trip!
